    Hi All!

Well, need to get myself motivated this week - only 4 weeks left of sick leave, and I need to get some things done!!

    So, this week, I will
    • List another 10 items on Ebay
    • Study Prince2 for 1 hour a day
    • Tag all the Las Vegas photos
    • Start going to through Dad's photos
3 of my 4 items sold on ebay, didn't make a huge amount, will net about a tenner, but better in my pocket and the stuff out of my house!!

So, today I'm going to add my DD DS games onto Ebay, then tomorrow I'll add more of my stuff. Also need to phone the mortgage broker to get this purchase up and running!!

    Have a good day!

Well, I've had a really cr*ppy week or so, absolutely no motivation to do anything, but have got up today with more of a spring in my step - getting showered and dressed first thing definitely helps :o

Not a great deal to report - banking up to date, but am waiting for a new debit card so I can move money from my Barclays account (where my ISA is) into my current account - though I've just realised, as I'm typing this, that I can use my Barclays cheque book instead for my DDs expenses, so I don't have to keep moving money from Barclays to Halifax.... now there's a plan! Better check I actually have a cheque book though - haven't used the account for years!

Still looking on track to pay off over £700 of overdraft this month, but this depends on what money we spend over half term next week. Have budgetted £50 but this might go up...

We're meeting the mortgage broker on Friday to get the mortgage going on our purchase, which is very exciting!!

    Hello JoKay,

Thanks for your kind words on my diary.

Sounds like you are making really good progress if you can take £700 off your overdraft this month. Well done! And a flat by the sea sounds lovely. Its good to have somthing to focus on - after all, you won't be in debt forever and it will be nice for you to relax and take it easy by the sea with your debt problems a distant memory.

I'll check in with you again soon,

    Take Care.

Well its the end of the month again, and its time to balance the spreadsheet!!

I seem to have lost £60 somewhere between my spreadsheet and bank account, and have spent a good half an hour checking and rechecking but I can't find it! Never mind, have manually adjusted the overdraft to the amount the day before payday, and am very pleased to report that we've paid £491.83 off the overdraft this month, plus £470 off the credit cards!!

Its not quite the £700 ish off the overdraft that I was hoping for - had to buy some clothes for DD, birthday pressies bought earlier than expected etc, but I'm not too worried - the key thing here is that I bought these items consciously, knowing that I could afford them and what impact it would have on the overall position - very empowering!!

I also decided to work out what percentage of our net income was spent on debt reduction (thanks StuartGMC!!!) and am amazed that it came in at 26%!!

So, have updated the signature and am a very pleased bunny indeed!!

Well done JoKay - thats fantastic news.

I have reached the conclusion that you can deal with your debt much better than I can. Therefore I am transferring all my debt to you for you to deal with. Effective immediately.

I'll pop in next month and see how much you've paid off for me....:D:D:D

Seriously though talisker, I'd love to help you out, if only in virtual terms! The key for this has undoubtedly been the new spreadsheet that I implemented only 2 months ago - and in that time I've paid off just over £1650!!

In the 'old days' (ie, before spreadsheet!) we would have just spent the majority of that money without actually knowing where the heck it had gone, :o but now we can see into the future on the spreadsheet, we know where we're at and what impact the limits we're placing on our monthly spending money is having on the overall situation. I'm happy to send you a copy if you want - just PM me!

OK, today I need to get some things done - only 2 days before I go back to work!!!
    1. Find new Barclays debit card....
    2. Log in to Barclays - work out how to use new card reader
    3. Transfer money to main account once I've worked out how to use it!
    4. Request new cheque book in my married name from Barclays
    5. Update spreadsheet with transferred cash
    OK - we're off.......!!
