Maybe some lateral thinking would help? Instead of filling it in, you could make a sunken garden with steps down, maybe a seating area, surrounded with shade and moisture loving plants! Make the sides gently sloping, putting the soil in the middle, could be really pretty!0

how much would you have to skim off everywhere else to even partially fill it, then as suggested it could just be a dip in the ground.
