You can simply connect your printer to the laptop via a USB port.
If I recall you usually have to install the drivers before plugging the printer in.
You don't need a wireless printer. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Don't understand. The laptop has a fault - fix the fault first - only compounds the problem. The Lexmark is currently attached to - what- ? - a desktop or router.
If attached to a desktop PC then you will be "sharing" the printer, install the downloaded drivers and select "network printer" rather than "local".0 -

yes thanks i have done this now
totalsolutions....iam having trouble actually using the printer i just wanted to rule out that i could actually use it with the lap top and now that i know i can i will tell you the problems iam having.
I thought that using a printer i could just click on the icon on any page which says print & it would then print out that page.....but when i click print the document just goes to a pending folder i now have 5 in there lol why is it pending and not printing auto ? the little printer icon on the bottom left tells me this
Thanks and sorry if iam confusing you iam not very techie minded

Ok, so where is the printer, Local i.e. connected to your laptop?
Is the printer ON? Does it have paper loaded? Is it On Line?
Is it the Default printer? Are you printing to a Adobe XPS printer? etc
PS i don't like Le****K printers (one reason is this mix up)0 -

Ok New printers that have not been used tend to be useless as the ink has dried up and blocked the heads as well.
Get the printer powered up on it's own, no other connections and try to do a self test, this will print several pages.
ON LINE means the printer is ready to go. Nothing to do with today's meaning of being on the internet- doh- youngsters!
Self test can be started by pressing line feed/paperfeed/eject when powering up printer (in the old days) check the manual
Confirm that the print is very good and all the colours are printing ok.
Confirm you have the drivers installed.
Confirm any printer messages on any LCD display, says it is "ready"
Re attach the USB cable to laptop0 -
TS......i have cleaned ink cartridges with the cleaning solution which came with the ............yikes iam scared to say .......the ink refills that i filled them up with myself i have printed out an alignment page ( it came out in black ink )
