Post Office and Bank of Ireland to launch current account

Options
I wonder who will use this account, given the fact that the money will not be covered by the FSCS and the possibility (small, but not impossible) of the Irish government going bust?

Anything that brings more competition to the market is a good thing.

But I really don't think that the Post Office would attract the quality customer base that a current account provider would want.

As people tend to keep smaller sums of money in current accounts than savings accounts lack of FSCS cover may not be as important as for PO savings accounts.

What would concern me is the terrible customer service that has beeen reported recently by people with PO savings accounts.

Of course the Post Office at one time did offer its own current accounts through Girobank.
