I dont understand what i have done wrong , if anything . I use to be able to put a dvd or in and media play would come up automatic. Now media play doesn't come up and when i go into media player and click onto which dvd or i want to play it wont.I get this "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer." i never use to have this problem . anyone have any idea what i can do to corrcet this .
Do you think it would make any differance if i uninstalled media player and put it all back on again , only thing is i'd lose all my music cd's i've downloaded that way .

well as above, re installing wmp wont delete your music, but try this
http://www.codecguide.com/klcp_update.htm
its a pack of common codecs, so wmp should be able to understand the dvd's again and some other new stuff too.
Personally i would switch to jaangle music player, spotify (a free legit way of listening to a huge library of music) and keep wmp or download vlc for video.
wmp tries to hard to be all things to all men and in the process does hardly anything, much better at getting specialised software.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
You could try reinstalling Media Player and see if that helps.
In Windows, I would use DVD Decrypter and HandBrake for putting DVDs on an iPod.0 -

You need this version of HandBrake:

and this is how you use it:
