WANTED: Can I download a programme (without spyware) to call UK landlines for free

Im jobhunting and have ended up with a very large phone bill last month because I have to keep making calls to landlines all over the UK  It works out a lot because every time I call someone new I have to explain the same thing and it all adds up
I have heard that it is possible to download some programmes enabling me to make free phone calls, but can anyone recommend a programme which they personally have used which does not have spyware or other rubbish:rolleyes:. Also, I dont want to download a programme which requires me to pay a small amount for 'unlimited calls'... I want it to be 100%, absolutely FREE!
Ive heard of "VoipStunt" but I think youve gotta pay so its not useful to me
Im sure many other people would also find this to be quite useful
Many thanks

I think there are some dialthrough services that play adverts and/or limit the length of the call.
If you need to keep making calls to landlines, why did your phone bill get very large? Unlimited calling plans are dirt cheap.
I'm not sure you'll be able to find a decent completely free solution.
£3.39 for unlimited uk landline calls on skype. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
I believe Three Mobile are soon to make Skype entirely free but I may have dreamt that...Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Are you ringing from a landline? Then get something like 1899.com which is a fixed setup charge. BT, TalkTalk and many others also allow 'free' calls for up to 60mins with most of their deals. Who are you with?
It's a "program" BTW ("programme" is a TV show) and there's nothing that can give you free calls unless you want something like Skype but that's only 'free' if calling other Skype users. And Skype (like most other apps) has plenty spyware built-in. It's nice spyware though and won't break your PC normally.0 -
Yes, you can sign up online for an account with www.call1899.co.uk and/or www.call18866.co.uk and/or www.18185.co.uk and then, from a BT landline, call any UK 01, 02 or 03 number for a flat connection charge of 5p. The call can be of any duration and the charge does not change.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
