Sickness benefit?

Hi,

Just after some info is possible.

I may need to have an operation which may make me unfit for work for possibly 10- 12 weeks.

I have worked for my company for 18 months with an excellent attendance. They will pay me for 6 weeks at full pay before i drop down to whatever the government pays me (never done this before, sorry)

Any idea what i might be entitled to until i can get back to work?

Some info for you,

Married, three kids, rent our house from a private landlord, wife is a stay at home mum. rent is £545 a month. We get Child tax thingy for the kids

Just really worried that i may have to refuse an operation in case we cant afford to live

You need to check your entitlement to SSP (Statuary Sick Pay) after your employers sick pay runs out.

It is £75.40a week for a FT employee if you meet all the criteria.

    See http://www.dwp.gov.uk/lifeevent/benefits/statutory_sick_pay.asp#what for more info.

Hi there, we are in the same boat as you. My partner has worked for the same comapny for over 17 years had received no pay apart from SSP. This is killing us, we are going to the CAB to see if we can get anything but I have already been on the direct gov website which says not. I think SSP is £79.15.

I know how you feel I have done a SoA on the debt free wannabe board and it's scary seeing it in print. I have just be to www.entitledto.co.uk but it looks like we only qualify for ctax benefit. The only benefit we have is child tax credit. Our monthly income is £438.46 and our rent is £695
