Hi,
I've just moved in to a newly built house.
I haven't the foggiest what to do.
I phoned british gas who tried to help me work out who my gas is with (no bill yet - 5 months!!!) and they said its not transco. I've found on the meter that its through Independent Pipelines Ltd.
How do i find out who my gas bill should come from and when its coming and how do i change and how do i do anything else i might want to do?
Cheers :-)

I had the same problem! We moved into a new build apartment and didn't have a clue, I was passed to and from everyone and anyone, eventually told by British Gas that it was an Independent Pipelines Ltd meter..
In the end, it was supplied by British Gas?!
Not sure if you have this already but.. Erm somewhere on your meter, there is a code think it's a 'meter point id number' (Gah I can't think of the exact 'name' of the code) it's unique and holds details of your meter (Sure mine had a letter on there and sets of numbers) you'll need this in order to locate who the actual supplier is, chances are it will be British Gas in a new build.
Maybe call Transco directly, if you find the meter point id number and quote this, I'm sure they'll (finally) be able to help you.
Sorry I can't be of much help, will try to remember further details of what happened with us but you could maybe ask a neighbour? Maybe they can help? The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

the first thing you need to do is find out who is your supplier.
For gas info - call transco. get your mpr number and confirm with them who your supplier is.
for electricity info call 0845 6030618 and get your mpan number and comfirm your supplier.
if your house is new
then there is often a problem with postcodes as they tend to get changed alot when houses are first built as they are often given temporary codes, then they get changed by the post office. So it is often hard for any company computer system to pick up your details.
so this is why you need you mprs /mpan number. it is unique to your house.
If mpas or transco advise they are not able to find the details - you must keep on to them until you have both these numbers.
Once you have the numbers and you have been told by mpas and transco exactly who your supplier is - then get on to the correct company. please remember if they say - oh no- we don't supply you. advise them it is a new build and transco/mpas have confirmed.
There is a possibility that you will notr have been assigned a supplier - if that is the case - you can take your pick of the suppliers. but first call the above numbers.
any problems or if you hit a brick wall - let me know and we can work
