! have recently been approached by Cartel and Redress claims to arrange compensation for loans before April 2007 to get rid of the balances and also obtain some compensation. However they require £500 up front for each loan refundable if they don't win. I requested a no win no fee basis or to pay them if they were successful but this is not an option. Any body used these people or have any information on this?

Hi there
DO NOT use these companies, I'm sure many will say the same here.
Before using any company, ALWAYS get as much advice as possible.
You will also receive FREE help and templates on this site right from the beginning to end, just be careful with those companies offering these services.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Someone approached asking for £500 and you are considering giving them the money??
How have you made it to adulthood?0 -
There is something to what they are claiming but don't part with your cash. There is loads of good info on CAG website – its free but you need to be prepared to take the case to court.
Alternatively there are a couple of companies who will carry out the assessment on your loan/credit-card free-of-charge see

I have looked into this a little and got some Info from a company called kerobo claims. They told me that if my credit card loan was over a certain amount and its vertually maxed and it was taken out before april 07 I may be able to claim and wipe out the balance. The criteria falls under about 7 different sections, (only needing one of which to be incorrect), and they seem to be minor details like size of lettering etc I didn't fully take it all in. How ever they say if I sign a form, which is a letter of authority, they can check all these details in my agreement and see if I have a case. If there solicitor says there is a case then and only then will I have to pay £295.00 to take it to court. This still didn't sound like a no win no fee system.
They also sent me a copy of "General Form of Judgement or Order" from a case they say they have won in chester. They also claim its the only case to be won of this type so far that is why they advertise on the radio. This threw me as I know other people like cartel also advertise in this way.
It all seems a little unsure for my liking and as a previous reply said, if your looking to throw good money after bad then i suggest you find some other way, (send it me if you like Ha Ha), but I am going to wait and see how this pans out before I think any further on whether it is a worth while investment of the little money I have.
hope this helps a littleEnzorave:beer:0 -

Looking at the website, this company also charges a £495 "verification fee". Even though they say that they would refund it if they don't get a card or loan written-off, they would still withold an "admin" fee . steer clear or find a company that will do the assessment free-of-charge.0 -
Dont go for Cartel. Trust me, your fingers would get burnt even your toes as well.
Whatever they claim they can do, you can do yourself.
Simply ask them for a copy of the legislation or the basis of their arguement used to dispute these loans and draft ur letter yourself.
If you need help writting, am sure someone here can assist0 -
They would only do for £500, what you could do yourself by looking for the info and using the templates on here. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
Another 3% shaved off 10/12/08
ANOTHER 4 % June 09:beer:0 -
Desperate people will believe any old garbage if someone tells them they can dismiss their debts for nothing and all live happily ever after.
As desperation increases, common sense decreses.0 -
£500 be better spent paying your debts off.0
