just like credit cards, BT are charging way OTT for paying late )not by choice, just very restricted income at present).
Asking them politely to give me a break has not worked, so its time to play hardball- Has anyone got charges refunded?
Any legalise I can use (a la credit card claims- OFT statements etc) ?
many thanks!

If the late fee for bank & credit cards of £12 is legally deemed reasonable how can a £7.50 charge by BT be excessive when the admin is the same? Not Again0

The £12 was not deemed to be reasonable.
The ruling was that any charge over £12 is "likely to be unreasonable".
£12, or even £5 for that matter, could still be entirely unreasonable and a court action on that basis could still succeed.0 -

With appropriate alterations, I would have thought that Martin's bank charges letter would suffice.brightonman123 wrote: »£12 £7 whatever... i am just after a sample letter that I can use please!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. The payee has to show that the amount is reasonable.
I'd have thought that claiming that a late payment (and here I am assuming we're talking about a payment that was, say, no more than 28 days after the date of production of the invoice) incurs a cost to the payee that is about 70% of the cost of supplying the entire service for a whole month is likely to be unreasonable.0 -

Its nothing to do with the initial bill.
Its is supposed to be for the cost of admin in relation to a late payment & associated correspondence.
It doesnt matter whether the initial bill is £1 or £1000 or the % relationship between bill & fee.Not Again0
