Making leaflets / flyers

Hi everyone, I am probably on the wrong board but unsure where to post.
I want to make some leaflets and flyers (for craft stuff I make) and just don't know where to start. I only want them for local use at the mo and will print them out myself.
Someone suggested I use a free download of "smartdraw". Has anyone heard of this or used it, or has anyone got any other suggestions?
I am not very good at comp stuff and feel it's an uphill battle learning everything so any help would be appreciated.
Also, what paper is best to use? - trying to keep it as cheap as possible.

I think the download at paint.net would be more suitable for a leaflet with a couple of pics and some text. Printer paper is around 0.5p per sheet, if you print 2 or 3 per A4 page, you could guillotine them.0

If you've got MS Office, try Publisher...0

Greenstreet Publisher used to be the thing. It came as standard on all those Tiny and Time computers. Try ebay for an earler vesrion eg 4. Should be cheap.
It's a tenner on Amazon.0
