Something to make labelling files easier

Call me lazy if you want, but sometimes if you have a rake of photos you've just uploaded rather than opening them all individually then 'save-as' it would be much easier if you could have something that would simply put "my wonderful holiday in Cornwall 1 .jpg", "my wonderful holiday in cornwall 2.jpg" and label them all in one go

anything around?

In windows vista (maybe XP too, I don't remember) select all the files you want to rename. Right click and select rename with them all highlighted. Rename the one file and all the others will get the same name with a number in brackets appended.

Jusr create a new folder called "my wonderful holiday in cornwall" and just dump the files in it, no need to rename the individual files.

I use Lupas Rename for bulk file renaming. Old, but free, no-nonsense and versatile.

I use Picasa free from Google to upload the photos for me it asks you the folder name you want to give them and uploads them into date order. so you can search by date or by file name. It will also upload them onto the web if you want VERY user friendly program as you can "touch up" photos and change things at the touch of a button.
