anybody heard ot Certigy they are similar to Transax , i wrote a cheque to a company who unknown to me used them for clearance service to cut a long story short , the cheque failed to clear first time but cleared second time costing me a bank charge of £35 , this lot are demanding i pay them £35 as a service charge to them , i refused to pay it they have now added another ten quid on for collection , they through a debt collector have sent me a red letter demanding payment within seven days or court action will commence & they will add all costs onto my account any suggestions , oft ,fos ? should i pay it or fight it .

any advice i know it is not a lot of money but it`s the principle of the thing , we are fighting bank charges now a secondary system of charges are kicking in .

Did you guarantee the cheque with a cheque guarantee card?

I think you might want to ask them to prove that amount to you before you will pay them

It's still a unlawful penlty charge, so reclaim it in the same way
