BT to PO - some questions

Hi,
First post here, although I've been reading for a while.
We're with BT, and our bill is always around £45 - that means only £10 every quarter for calls.
We're interested in moving to the Post Office.. line rental will be cheaper, calls about the same (by my reckoning), but we'll get the £50 casback thingy.
I have a few questions:
Do we need to contact BT, or do the PO do it all for us?
We've just paid our latest BT bill, and I believe that includes line rental in advance. Is this correct, and will we get a refund from them?
I very occaisonally use a prefix (with OneTel atm, but I may change) to phone the USA. As I'm considering Skype, this isn't too important, but I'd like to know if I'd still be able?
Thank you!

Don't forget to use a cashback site too - join https://www.quidco.com and get another £30 in cashback, less the £5 quidco admin fee.
You have to stay with the PO for 6 months to keep all the freebies, but you can change back to BT any time after that without penalty if you don't like it.0 -

Best to use https://www.call1899.co.uk for your geographical calls at 0p per minute with a 3p connection charge. This means your call will cost 3p no matter the length of time.
