Maybe it depends on who your with? I had life insurance but I cashed it in when I had my 'lightbulb moment' and paid it off the debt. I didnt get as much back as I had paid in (about £80 less) but at least I wasnt forking out all that every month.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Have to disagree re: life insurance - if you've got a repayment mortgage then you NEED it to pay off the mortgage, should the worst happen! I think your mortgage provider would be very unhappy if you didn't have it!!! On the other hand, if you've got an endowment - that is your life cover, so don't need to do it seperately!
You can get it much cheaper though - I've been quoted less than £10 per month for £160,000 worth of cover!! You do not have to go with your mortgage provider!
Do you need critical illness cover? That can make it more expensive!!!!20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

No I'm not sure I do; I think we took out the cover because it seemed like a good idea at the time (as so many other things in my life - sigh). Will have a rethink. I really feel I should keep life cover of some sort but will shop around to get it cheaper.
Just listed 55 books and DVDs/videos on Amazon, and I've barely scratched the surface of what we've got lurking. It could take me weeks to clear the bedroom, let alone the 20 boxes in the loft and what we've got at my Mum's.The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. Hiya
Just a little point to suggest ( I never had before but do hope that it helps)
Whiskas cat food is frequently on offer in a 6 pack at Sainsburys for £1.99 and sometime 2 multis for £3.50p thats quite a saving on what your paying now.
I can reccomend a site called money supermarket for shopping around for most insurances including for the catsMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
Our water is £11 per month for two adults on a meter. You should be able to get an info pack from your water supplier which will help you work out your usage and decide if you'd be better with a meter.0

Sorry i can't offer much help on the debts. but reguarding the cat food. we have 2 cats who eat anything. but my neighbours cat comes in and has breakfast also. his owners told me he will only eat whiskers. but i buy morrisons My Cat , it is in a red label tin and cost just 29p a tin and he eats it like it going out of fashion. thought this might help .
good luck with your debts , looks like u have got a really good plan going.0 -
If your cats like Whiskas...try Asda own brand...my 2 love it! And best of all...it's really cheap on multi packs........

I was also thinking of selling some books on Amazon but when I investigated it seems that there are hundreds of books listed at just 1p. I know Amazon give you postal money, but they also charge over £1.50 in fees. Do let us know how you get on with this.0 -
I sold a book and a DVD within the first hour of listing them. I stand to make a net profit of £3.40 on the two taking into account the postage I'll have to pay; I deliberately set the prices low for a quick sale. Now got 90 items listed.
DH is getting twitchy about me listing stuff; he keeps retrieving stuff from the listing pile and retreating to the corner with them
Why would he want to keep a DVD he's shown no interest in in 5 years? It's just clutter. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal.
