I bought a voucher in January from Image Northumbria for a gift for someone, costing £50, since then Alex - the man behind image Northumbria has been completely uncontactable by myself and the recepient of the gift voucher. We have called many times, left several voicemail messages and I've also emailled him - I recieved an email back saying that he would call the reciepient of the gift voucher the following week and he didn't. He's still avoiding my calls and not returning any messages, I've asked for a refund and again, no response.
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

I would get on to Trading Standards - you have made a purchase from him and he is refusing to provide the service that was paid for. the number is on:

  • Came across this on my Sunday night browsing and was interested to read it.

I have had alot of dealing with Image Northumbria over the years. I met and when talking to him about portraits of my kids and going to Venture Photography he warned me off but gave me a list of good photographers that he knew.

It wasn't until later that I asked if he would do it and he said yes. It was arranged, the pictures were great and very reasonable. I since have had a canvas made myself as he gave me the original files on a disk. try getting that from Venture.

Alex has since gone on to be my photographer on my wedding, done more family portraits and I have bought prints off him.

I have reccomended him highly to friends who I know have used him with no issues.

    Sus

Well if you get on so well with him, why don't you give him a call and ask him to get in touch with the OP?

To the OP is the number you have been contacting him on the one listed on this site?

Apologies if this is the one you have been using.

As suggested, perhaps Ms Ellis could let Mr Perry know that his poor customer service is going to get him a bad reputation on MSE. Still, I would go to Trading Standards myself - he has your £50 and you are not receiving the goods.

I saw this from a consumer action forum and it sounds very similiar to the company used by image northumbria.

A few weeks ago, I was approached by a woman in a shopping centre to do a survey for venture photography. I didn't really have time to do it and tried to protest but she said it was only a couple of questions, so I answered them and probably got away quicker than I would if I'd kept saying no.
Anyway a few days later I had a call saying I'd 'won' a free studio session and free print. Great I thought, I like free things. So we went along to the free session which was great fun but last night we went back to look at the photos and things went a bit downhill. We were both tired and a bit ratty and when we were shown the photos, they were not that great really. There were a couple that weren't bad and we picked a few that we liked as the guy scrolled through them. From then on followed a very hard sell of expensive framed prints and absolutely no mention of our free print, only a £75 voucher. We ended up being pushed into ordering a 10x8 framed print costing £300, the whole experience was horrible and and soon as we left, I knew we'd made a mistake. It was paid for on a credit card, and I was wondering if any of you with legal experience etc knows if there is anything we can do about this, ideally we'd like to cancel the order but I doubt they will let us.

Well, I got in touch with Trading Standards. Turns out that he was breaking some act or other by not having a geographical address on the website either. Apparenmtly they went and paid him a visit, not sure what went on (and TBH I'm not fussed) I got a cheque refund (which so far - touch wood - is fine) and that's all I wanted, my money back. Sorted. Shame that I had to go that far but thankful that it's sorted.

I think so - I'm sure that website came up when I googled the number....amazing what you can find out on the internet when you look hard enough though ;)

I'm glad you got a satisfactory result. At least he is now known to Trading standards and this thread will warn a lot of people.

Max - I would ring Trading Standards. Do you have a contract or any terms and conditions? You need to check them carefully. There is lots of good advice on the Consumer Action Group web site and you can find your local trading standards on the Consumer Direct site.
