in Credit cards
has anyone noticed that Virgin credit cards no longer accept direct debits of amounts other than the minimum payment? If you want to pay off your amount quicker you must set up a seperate standing order. This wasn't made clear to me when I moved my balance from another card.

MBNA (which operates Virgin cards) used to offer this DD facility alongside the full and minimum payment options.
Because some customers overspent and/or didn't manage their accounts properly (resulting in the amount collected being less than the minimum required and missed payment fees), MBNA decided to withdraw this DD option.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
You would think they would have the facilty to allow you to choose an amount for the direct debit but have a minimum of your minimum payment. I know that's how Morgan Stanley used to work, I had mine set up as £50. If my minimum payment was more then they would take the minimum payment, if my balance was less then they only took the balance. Can't believe MBNA couldn't do this!0

To be honest if you can navigate to this website there is no reason why you cannot set up a bill payment with your internet banking for any additional payments.0

HSBC online allows this cos they store the bank details for all cards so you just select the card type from drop down list, then enter the ref (card number) and enter amount - easy street

It's not a problem though, is it?
Just leave the minimum payment on DD and send the extra via SO or BACS transfer each month when the bill comes in and you're doing your monthly budgeting or you can pay even faster via Virgin's website using your debit card.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
