Birthday Sunday Lunch - where to go?

Hey all,
I know there are a few foodie posts but I didn't really find what I was looking for. (although that may be because there isn't anywhere!)
My Dad will soon be 80 and we want to go out for sunday lunch to celebrate. There'll be about 10 of us, most of whom will be around the same age and so we'd need easy car access, good moving room in the restaurant and good light etc.
Unfortunately quantity of food is quite important. Quality still has to be great but they don't want such top-nosh that there is very little on the plate.
They don't like downstairs at Balloo (no idea why). We do like Nick's Warehouse (though it has been many years since I've been there but hopefully it is still the same standard...?)
Anyway, we've (i've) been reduced to thinking about carverys. For these we usually go to Ballygally.
I'd like to go somewhere with nicer food than Ballygally. (My brother and I like more quality and interesting food, maybe we're foodie-snobs) It would be nice to try and get a bit more of a balance between great quality and enough food to keep the oldies happy! But no 'foreign' food. *sigh* and not a seafood only place.
Any suggestions? We're from the Downpatrick area, but as I say, Ballygally is a manageable drive.
As for price, I've been trying to get prices for the carverys - Ballygally must be somewhere around £30 per person I think. I tried the Culloden - their 4 course sunday lunch is either £30 or £40. I got different prices from 2 different people!?
So somewhere around £30 each is probably good. Though I'm sure we could go a bit more if somewhere is well recommended.
Many many thanks for any suggestions.

Try the Cultra Inn just behind the Culloden, they do a carvery on a sunday (have to book it) its £18 a head, I was there a few weeks ago and it was a lovely luch and good value0

The Ramada in Belfast Sunday carvery lunch isn't bad. There is an interesting array of starters and desserts and the standard meats but with a good variety of veg for main course. Good value too at £16 or thereabouts.0

Never been but have heard good reports about La MonDave0

The villager in Crossgar serves great tasting food with good portions. It might not be the food you or your brother are interested in, but your father should like it. restaurant room is upstairs.0

If Carrickfergus isn't too far I would definately recomend Papa Browns0

You could try The Curran Court Hotel in Larne, good food , plenty of it & cheap...What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0

Excellent Sunday lunch in The Vine Restaurant at the Burrendale Hotel, Newcastle at around £17.50 each. Full service, not buffet, need to book.0

I hear the Highways in Larne is very good, or maybe the Kiln in the same town.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

I think the Royal Hotel Bangor would be ideal for your requirements.0
