How do I go about changing the law?
We have just been through all this. We have been through hell and has cost us nearly £2,000. I wish the law could be changed! Because we have had scaffolding on their land to build the wall we was told by their surveyor that we would have to pay a further £200 to our neighbour if our builder was to use the scaffolding to build the roof.

Today has been a good day because all the scaffolding has been taken down so hopefully the end of any disputes.

You dont - you need to move to a detached house!;)

We seriously considered it but our semi is in a lovely location.
My husband converted the loft (only Velux windows) 20 years ago and we have space at the front for our caravan. Most of the newer houses lofts could not be converted plus houses in our price range round here are usually cramped in! (and even the more expensive ones).

So glad the building works are in the final stages and hopefully we will have no more dealings with our neighbour.

Your neighbour wanted paying to have scaffolding up?

I'd move. I live mid terraced with L shaped properties. I let my neighbours come and go as they like, they do me. neighbour had scaffolding up in my garden only a couple of months ago. So what, they're my neighbours, I wouldn't even consider to charge them.
