Use DBan, download either the CD/DVD or the floppy/flash drive version from HERE .
Install to floppy or CD as required, boot from same, you may have to alter boot order from the BIOS, possibly by pushing del key on boot up.
Follow the on screen instructions.

Yes, also use the latest version of ccleaner, which wipes free space too (after it cleans up your history etc)

In both cases, tick all the boxes.
Dban is thorough, but it wipes windows, diagnostic and recovery partitions in one go, when all you need to do is remove your data, history, and wipe free space.0 -
Thanks so much for the advice - I noticed some PC's the same as mine have been selling for about £100 so well worth getting rid off rather that letting it gather dust.0
