thanks for all your help guys. I already have an active O2 SIMplicity contract, and have done for about 15 or 16 months now, so hopefully it'll be ok.

With regard to the missed payment marker posted by Capital One, I would insist that they correct your credit file, especially as they have admitted it was due to their error.
It may not make a great impact on your credit rating but it's the principle!

If it was a mistake by Capital One and they have subsequently recorded a late payment on your credit file, ask them to correct it or ask the CRA to contact Capital One on your behalf.0
