Video Sender query

Hi,

I have a siting issue with our main TV in that it needs to be located at the opposite end of the living room to where the aerial port is located.

I bought a video sender from argos which failed to deliver the goods.(http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5344273.htm)

I connected a freeview box to the aerial port and then connected the AV transmitter to the freeview box. The receiver was connected directly to the TV (~8 metres and in line of sight of the transmitter).

Q Should this setup have worked?
Q Is the connection I am setting up do-able i.e. beaming from a freeview/trasnmitter combo to the TV/receiver combo: assuming a line-of-sight distance of 8m between the 2 AV units? I have no plans to beam to a 2nd TV (The freecom USB TV has taken care of that particular puppy).

Many thanks for your advice in advance. I am planning a run back to Argos to get a refund on the original unit and would appreciate thoughts on the other units available there or even the feasability of my proposal.

Cheers

When you say "failed to deliver the goods" what do you mean? The set up should have worked, did you get any picture or were you unable to set it up and get it working correctly?

A better solution would be to extend the aerial feed to the other end of the room!

Is it connected through the Scart socket on the TV or did you use the 3 pins directly into the TV. Try both if available as it could be that the received scart socket is not connected correctly. Are you getting sound only, TV only or neither.

Also check that you are using the Transmitter scart socket on your free view

Have you pressed the AV button on the TV/Remote. If so it does look to be oxed. It doesn't look too different from the ones they sell at tesco for the same price

    Good Luck
