CD WOW Shippiing from Hong Kong?!!?!

Hey hey.

More of a confused post from me this one. Ordered Call of duty world at war which was briefly£27.99 on CD wow..

It arrived today from Hong Kong? Didn't expect that!

It wasn't marked as a gift or anything either, so does this mean I'm going to get some sort of tax invoice for importing goods etc...?

Thanks

CDWow you often get different versions of dvds and cds and they come from hong kong... You won't get any "tax invoice", cdwow is all above board.

I don't buy from them anymore because I didn't like getting weird versions of DVDs and they've never been the cheapest for anything I wanted.

I've had lots of stuff from CD Wow with no import taxes or anything so I think you should be OK.

the only time you get an extra invoice is if its stuck at customs and this is paid by the royal mail, then you pay them ... cd wow are hong kong based so expect the regions games

I've never had a problem with CDs that I've ordered from CDWOW from an import perspective .

However, I was looking at buying one particular CD and I just happened to compare the track listing on CDWOW against Amazon. One track was missing from the CDWOW one.

It sounds like williham has also had a similar experience.

CDWOW prepay all UK VAT above £18 so you won't get any charges. They source from all over the world.

It's a couple of years since I used them due to their appalling customer services/continual waiting for stock followed by a hike in prices but I believe they are run by an Australian outfit now.

Be warned, if this is a region-free Hong Kong game, be it for the 360 or PS3, then you'll likely be unable to trade it in at any high street games shops. Most shops tend to turn down non-UK titles.

Was it a genuine copy though and did it work?

If so, and you plan to keepit rather than trade it, then you have done ok at that price....

Taxwise CD-Wow aren't really any different to the likes of Amazon, HMV, Tesco, etc who ship items from the Channel Islands as the Channel Islands aren't part of the European Union. The only difference with CD-Wow is they send stuff halfway across the planet.

CD-WOW have traded from the far east for years. They don't hide the fact. And as far as I am aware they don't sell any counterfeit CD's, DVD's etc. I've bought from them for years and have never heard any sniff of that sort of thing.

They used to source CD's etc. from all over the world, but have had to stop doing so after the BPI (record industry) took them to court and essentially won the right to price-fix on a global scale. CD's are sold cheaper in other countries and CD-WOW were buying them abroad, then selling them at low prices into Europe, something which the high-court ruled was illegal.
