Rinroo, I let all my bridesmaids choose a style that they like denough so they could wear again later on. I am paying for the dresses so I consider it to be my gift to them. I am getting married in red and their dresses will be in black!

I emailed Landy and asked them if they had a maternity bridesmaids dresses or if they can alter the dress to fit.

They sent me this but did say they can alter a dress from the measurments that i gave.

If she's the chief bridesmaid she can easily wear something slightly different from the others. No problems.

Update... I have emailed Sweetsend and it seems they do not want to change their designs at all. I have emailed Landy about the maternity dress ringroo had found. See what happens.

Remember to bear in mind that her measurements of bust, waist, stomach, hips and bum will change by the week, sometimes by a lot, so when you measure her and allow time for Landy to make the dress and get it delivered, by the time the dress arrives she may well be a completely different shape to what she measured as before and the dress won't fit right.

You never know how the measurements will change though, so allowing some extra for growing room might still result in a badly fitting dress when not all those body parts grew as anticipated.

When I was 6 months pregnant, one week I still fitted in my normal clothes and two weeks later I couldn't get them on me at all, the only thing that hadn't changed was bust size though which was strange.

Yes, I think that would help you.

I think the best option would be to find something 'off the shelf' for her to wear really close to the date of the wedding so you both know it fits, or maybe a little earlier if it's a style that would allow room to grow (empire line perhaps, although if she grows bust-wise then no good).

Ordering something in advance is a recipe for disappointment I fear, especially getting it made for the occasion, in case it doesn't fit right.

But yes, you are going to be a fairy godmother, doesn't that make it all better lol?!

I'm sure debenhams or BHS will have a suitable maternity dress nearer the time?

Could you try and get her a style in a stretchy fabric? I'm 6 months pregnant and I couldn;t wear anything tailored right now as it would be uncomfortable.

Why not look for a dress in a similar style to the others in a stretchy material? As they are black it shouldn;t be too hard.
