Chief Bridesmaid Pregnant

Hello!

I just got told by my chief bridesmaid that she is pregnant (and I got asked to be the Godmother)!!!

:j

I am soooo happy.

Obviously, it is not my main worry in regards to her... But I have 4 bridesmaids with matching dresses in black to be ordered from Sweetsend on ebay.

I do not really know what to do... My mom suggested my friend buys herself some maternity clothes closer to the time as she will be 6 months pregnant... Keep in mind my mom is a tightskate and is obsessed with the price fo the bridesmaids' dresses: she has already asked to get one of them back from the least girly of my bridesmaids to alter it for herself later.

TBH, I do not want to single out my friend just because she is pregnant.

Anyone has any ideas? I thought about contacting Sweetsend regarding this but they will most probably not want to know: it's not as if they can estimate how big my friend is going to get and I am sure they do not want to be held responsible if the dress does not fit.

A bit of a pickle situation here... Anyone has experience with this?

BTW, the chief bridesmaid lives in France so she cannot come over here to discuss things.

Any help is welcome!

Can you not order hers closer to the time? How long does it take for them to be made?

Or order it with extra 'tummy space' and get a dressmaker to alter it even closer to the wedding date?

I would contact the company and ask what they would recommend in this situation, they might be able to give you some ideas.

Have you already ordered the dresses? if not can you not look around and see if there is anywhere else you can get bridemaids dresses from that also have a co ordinating maternity dress range?

I know landy have maternity bridesmaids dresses. The chief bridesmaid is supposed to be slightly different fromt he other maids anyway, so i'm sure it wont matter if she has to have a slightly different dress.

They say that it takes 5 weeks to make the dresses... You're right I should really email them.

Now if anyone could tell me how to deal with my mother !!!!ing on the parade so much it sucked the joy out of the news...

Ah that's lovely news. Mothers can be a nightmare, best to just try and ignore her as best you can. Good luck with finding a suitable maternity bridesmaid dress.

That dress is lovely!, I'm sure they could alter it, to fit a bump. If not i bet you could find a very similar maternity dress.

Thx cte111... We have been friends since we were 8, lost touch when we went to uni (I had moved across the country before that) and got back in touch 2 years ago. Mom has always been the negative type anyway, the kind of person that will put people and their decisions down in every possible way. i am just miffed that she cannot be happy that I am going to be a Godmother.

Her tightskateness is getting too much at times: we ar epaying for our own wedding after all. We were thinking of giving the money to be spent on favours to a charity and leave a card explaining the situation on the tables at the reception and she said we should have the cards but keep the money and not give it to a charity.

    Nightmare!

Rinroo, do you have a direct link to Landy's maternity range, or do I have to email them?
