As you know, Essex is a very varied county. I'm not an agent, I only go by the houses on rightmove, and at least half have been stuck for about six months. That doesn't mean some properties aren't selling though.

Mean machine you are talking absolute cr*p!!

the saying "safe as houses" did not come about for no reason. There is a shortage of property in the uk and, no, matter how unfortunate it is for first time buyers simple economics dictates that supply and demand mean prices will go up!
Abeit not as fast as recent years as I do agree with you that affordability is an issue!

I think you should bite the bullet and buy at the moment where I live (central Hampshire) prices are rising again not dropping and they are selling within weeks.

    That's nice dear.

Can we not have yet another pointless discussion on this subject Ginge. You enjoy your mortgage. With such low wage inflation it's going to be with you for a loooong time.

By the way, if you think this bubble has anything to do with supply and demand, I'd look at Ireland. A tiny population. A big country. Houses coming out of their ears and annual HPI of 15%.

It's all to do with temporarily cheap money...which is a phenomenon that is now drawing to a close. So don't say you weren't warned.

I know other people who refuse to have for sale boards, not wishing their neighbours to know their business till the deed is done dusted.

Nothing like putting a property 'For Sale' then trying to make sure potential buyers don't know it's for sale.

Perhaps a neighbours friend or family may be interested in moving into the area.

It used to annoy me as an Agent when vendors wished me to market their home; but asked that I don't let people know it's for sale. :rotfl:
