Not if they do everything using the proper parts/scedule etc. Do you want to take the risk for £100 or so?
Personally I would get it done at VW dealership until warranty expires (ie this last time). You might also want to get the cambelt done shortly too maybe just after warranty expires. The one on our Golf went at just under 3 years and 3k miles after 30k service.
The other point to make is if there re any recalls etc you will get them done as well.0 -
My advice is ring VW and ask them just to be sure. Their general inquiries number is 0800 333 666 and they can transfer to the relevant department.0

If you have a full VW service record stick with VW for this last in warranty service and get the MOT done before the warranty expires. This way if somthing goes wrong next year VW are likley to do a good will offer ie 50% off a new engine or such like.0

Don't rely on the goodwill. Ask anyone who's had the dreaded ESP failure. It's very much down to who you speak too at VW and what mood they are in at the time.0 -
vw warranties are useless just like their cars, so i wouldnt worry0

I'd find out how much it is from a independent then ring round a few VW dealers and see if they can match or get near the price...you might be surprised.0

Not necessarily.
My BMW had a used car warranty when i bought it from the main dealer.
The warranty paperwork stated that all work had to be carried out by an approved BMW garage.
In my case that meant that i had to go to a main dealer for any repair/servicing work, otherwise BMW would simply wash their hands of any warranty claims.
Now that my car is out of warranty i'll happily use independent garages or a family friend who's a mechanic.
VW warranty may have a clause that states any work must be carried out by them or an approved garage.
It's worth checking before getting any work done.
Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
