Car Insurance following a claim

Hi All,

My car insurance is due for renewal next month and I wondered if there any particular insurance companies out there that are perhaps better than others when it comes to obtaining insurance following a claim?

I had an accident last year and we're about to issue proceedings. We have been offered 75/25 in my favour which we are rejecting.

Anyway, my current insurers Direct Line have sent my renewal through and it is not far off double what I paid last year as my NC's have gone down as well.

Or am I just being too optimistic?!

If anyone got a good quote following a claim I'd really appreciate knowing who from.

Many thanks.

Just follow the advice from MSE Martin on getting quotes - your new profile doesn't mean your current insurer will be the cheapest.

    Thank you.

Something I also wanted to know, if you can help, is because my case is still pending what do I put down on these forms when obtaining quotes online? I mean, I would have had 4 years NC this year had it not been for the accident, and because it is still pending and could end up in my favour do I still put 4 years or do I have to go with DL's policy of them taking 2 off me at the time of the accident, hence leaving me with 1 years?

You will have to put down what your NCD proof shows.

If subsequently your NCD is reinstated you can get your premium adjusted to reflect this. Make sure you point out the ongoing dispute over the claim to any new insurer.

Do you mean what it states on the renewal letter from my current insurers?
