Problems with Vacuum Cleaner - please advise

In January I bought a vacuum cleaner and the suction has never been very good, I rang the customer helpline and was told to clean the filters everyday (takes a good 10 mins) however now even with clean filters the suction is rubbish!
I took it back to the shop a while back but they told me I had to go through the manufacter (Electrolux) and they have given me an address to take it to (a good 40 min drive away and I don't drive!)
My question is this: Is the shop (comet) right? surely I can return it to them? I have the receipt
Thanks in advance

Yes you can return it to Comet.
You have just found out that Comet are useless at dealing with customer complaints.
Ask to speak to a manager and if they do not help write to the head office.
Are you looking for a refund or a new or different model?0 -
Yes quite right, spend weeks trying to get comet to deal with it only for them to eventually take it and simply send it to the manufacturer anyway.
Or just take it direct to the manufacturer and get a repair or replacement.
Yes the SOGA means that comet should do it but you willl be far quicker just taking it to the manufacturer to deal with.0 -
Thanks for that! its back to the shop then as I cannot get to the manufacturors.0
