Multiple item listing - not winning the quantity I need.

Hi,

According to eBay's .com page, if I don't win the quantity I bid on then I don't need to complete the auction. The .co.uk doesn't mention this.

I'm the first bidder on an item. A second bidder has matched my price but not the quantity, however, they've been allocated one of the items. The quantity I bid on, came with a favourable postage discount - what I'm winning just now does not.

Do I need to complete if I don't win the quantity I wanted?

I'm guessing the co.uk info applies. Haven't heard of being able to withdraw. (But then I don't understand Dutch auctions anyway)

I have never understood dutch auctions either and always get muddled. However ebay.com and ebay .uk rules are different and the ones you need to apply are the ones on the website that you used to purchase, regardless of where the seller is registered.

In this case neither do I. The 2nd bidder *matched* my price. It looks like eBay are taking the price inclusive of postage into account. The seller won't make any more money than by selling both items to me.

Hoping for a late bid .......
  • the second bidder would of bid more , but as they only want one then both sell for the lowest amount.
they have removed the page on ebay that used to explain it all , as they are doing away with dutch auction as the amount of people who did not understand them was high.
when you bid there used to be a bit telling you you might not win them all and you did not have to complete the sale if that was the case.
