in Credit cards
I took over my husbands debts when he was ill a couple of years ago, I closed his bank account and cut up his credit card. After doing an expenditure report thingy, we agreed to pay an amount each month off his credit card, I increased the amount a couple of month ago.
Last month though, we received a letter from Marlin Solicitors saying that we were in breach of an agreement, they had taken over the debt and we had not responded to a letter they had sent us.
We rang them saying that that was the first letter we had received since we agreed the payments, and no-one had told us we had to pay anyone else, payments were still being made regularly. and still are. They say we got a letter in November, we didn't!
I can't understand why the bank hasn't been in touch to say we have to pay someone else, and we currently pay by standing order, and would prefer to continue paying that way. Can they make us pay by direct debit?
