Mis-sold our Right to buy from the council !?

Whilst I do feel for your situation - it really isn't a case of being mis-sold, you didn't read the paperwork that you needed to check. Yes, maybe someone mistakenly put the wrong number of years on the paperwork - but that would have been an error not a mis-selling.
Then if there was an error, it was down to you to check over the paperwork before signing it - but you actually freely signed and agreed to a 5 year term.
Look at it another way - you actually bought a discounted house that you're being allowed to make a profit on, subject to a five year holding-off period. That holding off period is there to stop quick profiteering on social housing stock - in other words it's there specifically to stop you doing what you want to do. I can empathise with your frustration that you were told 3 years - but we come back to the point that you signed and agreed to 5 years.
On another note - if I were to give you a pound, would you write me a blank cheque? I'll only fill in "Pay ib0211 the sum of one pound only", I'm sure there's no need for you to check what I write?

So you think the local council tax payers should be giving you a nice little earner? Why?
What are you on about ?
Ok, maybe mis-sold was the wrong thread title, but i do not see what your comment has to do with anything.
We are fools for not realising that the final documentation said 5 years, but when we applied we where informed.
that the housing assoctiation was changing hands and it may delay the sale, but it would go through under the 'old' terms. We asked for written confirmation but it never must have arrived...
The way alot of people are responding is as if i'm trying to scheme money, i just want what i was originally offered.
We've payed rent and council tax for about 10 years and never missed a bill, so we have payed our way.
Yes we do stand to make a profit, but alot of hard work, time and effort has been put into the house in improving it.
Cheers for you intellegent advice though mate !

Cambo,
Were 'Right to buyers' too.
Picked up our house for a nice £37,000. Total bargain, well with the discount that was. Just means we buy it instead of renting it.
Though, good news. You can rent your house did you know.?
An option, if you live in a nice area is to let the house, and rent another house.
Other options, would be to re-mortgage and build an extension if possible. Id expect maybe £20-30,000 for this, and could take up too 12months to complete.
Ourselves, we cant extend. No where to extend too..
