gas meter reading?

Hi guys,
Have been reading posts here for a long time, registered a couple of months ago, and have my first question....

I got my online quarterly bill from Npower and I checked electricity & gas readings as they usually "over"estimate me
I have a problem with the gas reading, this was last october 3419, they estimate it now to 3667, which I think is too high. I checked my reader which says 735???
i forgot that a new meter was installed sometimes last year, can't really remember exactly when, but this new number looks very strange to me?
I want to submit a new reading online, but am worried this reading is not accurate:confused:
No toiletries spend in 2011.
So far spends....£0!

    Welcome to the forum.

I am not sure I understand what question you are asking.

If you had a meter fitted last year it will certainly be a metric meter.

So NPower have estimated that you have only used 248 gas units which is approx 2,800kWh in 6 months over a very cold winter. That is very very low assuming you use gas for heating and Hot water. A UK average consumption would be closer to 15,000kWh

I am afraid I don't understand what you mean by "I checked my reader which says 735???"

Your new meter will have a digital reading, if you post the full reading here perhaps we can help.

hi Cardew, thanks for your reply

    The full reading is
00735.13 (last 2 digits are in red), it is indeed a cubic meter display

I read on the new meter that it was changed on 4/10/08, and the reading at the time they changed the meter was 3363.
I want to inform npower of the latest accurate reading, but I am a bit worried that the change from imperial to a cubic meter will cause problems in my billing! The latest bill still uses imperial measurements

it looks like they havn't updated the meter exhange.
The next step is to let them know the correct details.
You'll need the date, reading from the old meter when it was taken out, today's reading and the meter serial number (near a barcode on the meter).
You can call/email/write to let them know, and once fixed they'll send you a corrected bill.
