Dodgy car sale.

In my search for a new car I found one that looked perfect. However, when I performed an HPI check the numberplate came back as a completely different car, which was written off several years ago.
The only reason I am looking for a new car is that my last one was stolen so this is a subject close to my heart. Who should I report this to? I was unable to work out which of DVLA's many numbers I should phone so I sent an email with the link to the car.
I urge anyone considering buying a second-hand car to perform one of these checks, which can cost as little as £3. It will save you a lot of heartache in the long run.

N.b. Private plates can screw things up.0

Thanks. It looks like a pretty bog-standard reg plate to me. Plus if the plate had been legitimately transferred then wouldn't it be registering on the HPI sites by now? Every single one I checked came back with the wrong car.0

Maybe use all your 20p's to pay for an RAC inspectioin?0

Yeah you would like to think so but i remember some part ex's that we took took ages to sort out. Genuine car's in the end just private plates had caused chaos.0

Why don't you just ask the seller?0

Just type in reg & make. Or here http://www.askmid.co.uk/ownvehicle/ If it comes out wrong on there just go to the Police.0

My mother had her paving cleaned of weeds yesterday for £200 (initial quote £500). She thinks the guy is very nice (sob story of kids etc). I hope he is doing a good job but as pointed out to her a good conman can fleeece you of all your money and you would still be saying after the event....."but he was a very nice man"............:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Obtain the VIN for the vehicle, and you can check on that instead of the registration number.0
