Hi All Techies,
Not really a linux gal, but I do love my eee - I know I cant have flash player 10 because I've still got the standard eee system, but I've downloaded the .gar file for flash 9 and when I try to run the command in the control window (the black thing you get when pressing ctrl alt t) it says that the file cannot be found...
Anyone good with step by step instructions for linux installations of add ons?? I want to watch channel 4 on demand and I cant atm...
Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the EEE specifically, but if the version of Linux that it ships with supports apt-get and the repository has flash in it, then you should be able to open a terminal window (ctrl alt t) and type:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install adobe-flashplugin
Or if you want to continue with what you've already started, you need to be aware that filenames in linux are case sensitive, and that the directory that your browser downloaded it to probably isn't where you are looking!
In the terminal window type
cd /home
and have a look around with the dir command. You'll probably find your file somewhere like
/home/<your username>/Desktop
but it varies from browser to browser and how your prefs are set.0 -
Thanks fwor tried the first option - and it said no flash plugin (although it ran the first command fine)...
So tried the second option and nothing happens - the file is saved in my documents if that makes any different - you cant save files to desktop with eee
Hmmm eee is soooo good I just wish I knew what to do with it

Did you get this problem solved. I am also trying to install flash onto the EEE0

I'd recommend replacing linpus with ubuntu netbook remix. Much better OS, a cut down version of Ubuntu, which is possibly the most popular distribution of linux, and has masses of online support.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

It's not my computer so cannot change the OS.0

Have a look at the EeeUser Forum, e.g.

You might try asking for help there.0
