Freeview - no sound?

Well I needed help before with a freeview box which had no sound. When I turn the box off and use normal TV I have perfect sound.
So I threw out that box thinking it wasn't working. Now I have another box and all channels are fine, but again, no sound!
When I turn off the box and use the TV only the sound is fine. When I use my DVD player alone there is sound but when it is attached to the freeview box (it has two scart sockets) there isn't any sound!
My landlady bought my TV for me when I moved into this house (a week ago), it is a Vistron DB17 17", could the TV be the problem? If so then I am doomed to having no freeview
The scart lead definitely works as I've been using it for my DVD player while I waited for my freeview box to be delivered.
Any ideas? I can't get a good signal without freeview so it isn't ideal if I can't get it working
Thanks in advance

Oops, ignore this. The scart lead wasn't pushed in properly
I just assumed too quickly that it was the same problem that the old freeview box hadJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

Good good
So it was just my freeview box that was knackered last time then.
Away to watch Easties, then nip round to the shop. Laters taters.0 -
The sockets on your freeview box are likely to be sound OUTPUTS only so your DVD player may not play through it (suggest one lead from DVD to TV and one lead from Freeview to TV assuming you have 2 scart inputs). If only one TV scart need to use switch box.
When freeview is switched on this may switch the TV to the scart input and when turned off switch the TV back to the original channel. Thus freeview off receiving via aerial lead with sound; freeview on receiving via scart input with sound not working.
If two scart sockets try using other socket.
Try both your scart outputs on the freeview box even though they may be designated TV & VCR.
Is it no sound or low sound? I ahd a Philips box that was low on the TV output socket and normal on the VCR output
Can you use the freeview box on a friends TV to prove that you are getting sound out?Well I needed help before with a freeview box which had no sound. When I turn the box off and use normal TV I have perfect sound.
