    We were told Dalaman airport in Turkey are strict and will charge for anything over the limit, even if it is a tiny amount.
    Here I go again on my own....

    Usually you can go up to the next whole kg without having to pay. In other words, if your limit is 15kg with Ryanair and you have 15.7kg you'll be ok, but the moment you hit 16 you'll have to pay - unless, of course, they're feeling nice that day. Sometimes you'll get away with a bit more if it's obvious you haven't got much hand luggage (e.g. have just a small handbag or laptop case) - even with Ryanair check-in staff have a little discretion over a kilo or two.
