Some excellent suggestions - many thanks! To be fair to DD she is not a fussy eater (wasn't allowed to be ) she just cannot stand the texture of onions. The taste is not a problem, so pureeing them, or cooking to a mush or using leeks instead (which I do use and hadn't thought of using as a substitute) are great ideas. Many thanks to you all.
ps My food loathings are seafood, nearly all fish and offal:eek::eek::eek: and as someone else said, I wouldn't eat any of them no matter how much they were pureed or disguised:p:p:p
I'm exactly like that. I can't stand cooked onions in any form, but like raw ones. Everyone thought I'll outgrow this, but I'm 29 now and can't see any changes.
In the past when i have made curry i have boiled up chopped onions and water till really soft, then pureed with a hand blender/liquidiser.
this produces a very smotth puree.
This is great to add to stews,bolognaise/soups/curry
you could make up a large batch and freeze for later use
