I had to post this, because it feels so good to get one over on the banks
-- well, if I can't get my charges back from the bank, I have resorted to charging the bank instead! And it worked!
Having not received my new PIN number for over 2 weeks, I wrote to Alliance and Leicester (who said it must have been lost in the post, TWICE) and gave them this scenario: If a cheque paying off my overdraft was lost in the post for 2 weeks, then I'd be charged £5 a day - total of £70. So I charged them £70. I also charged then £6.88 - the cost of the call to A+L's 0844 number from my mobile phone to try and resolve the issue. I whacked on an administrative charge of £12 to cover expenses incurred in sending the letter.
I just had £88.88 deposited into my account as a 'Goodwill payment'.
So, for all of you who are waiting on your bank charge claims now I definitely recommend charging the banks for their screw-ups. It pays to send in a complaint letter!

It's good but be careful of doing that all the time cos banks won't always pay out on that basis.0 -
Well my point is rather you don't know unless you try, it's absolutely always worth complaining if you've received bad service in my opinion.0
