how does one prove that husband has put part of his money into

her new girlfriend's hotel?
my mum has proof from 8 years ago that her husband had about 200k in his accounts and was on a very good state and private pension (he is retired as she is) however because the divorce and financial issues have taken 8 years and still not finished and my mum is not even living on bare minimum she says it will be difficult to prove that the money he had in the uk has now partly gone into his girlfriend's hotel (someone told her).

She is not even on pension credit in france where she lives (as this does not exist).

Apparently he is very clever at moving money around without anyone seeing anything (he also owes the tax man in the uk but was never pursued for this either - cant believe how lucky this man is!). Apparently my mum says he knows how to use the tax havens such as Luxembourg etc to hide money. (however I have heard that since July this year you cannot hide money anymore even in these countries - can maybe someone enlighten me on this fact?

Surely one cannot abandon one's wife and say to the authorities one has nothing (.can anyone help with advice? does anyone know of any legal forums too that could help?

Does she not have a solicitor? If not, she should really think about getting one.

If she definitely has proof of his possession of that amount of money, her solicitor simply needs to ask him/his solicitor where the money went? It would have been better if this had been raised before but if the proof has only just come to light then that is good enough reason for the delay and he will be expected to provide an answer and proof of where it went.

As far as forums go, they are fine for giving limited help on information provided but these are matters that should be dealt with by someone your mum knows is qualified to advise and she can only do that by going to a solicitor herself with the paperwork. If she is living on the bare minimum then she may well be entitled to legal aid. (You have now edited to say she is in France so legal aid is not an option unless she comes back to England and can give and English (or Welsh) address as residence, even if only for a short time)

In the meantime, make sure she keeps that proof safe and secure.
