Bought some items from Marks and Spencer outlet department 3 weeks ago and was really pleased with the discounted items.:j Fast forward 2 weeks and one item developed a fault. No problem, I would just return with the original receipt and ask for a refund. This is where the problem started. The items were discounted (clearance) and therefore shown on the receipt as T 73 clearance, and not the full item code, which I didn't realise would cause such a problem.
To cut a long story short, the assistant accused me of buying the item months ago and trying to return even though I had worn item! Which was ridiculous as item was faulty, but I had no way of proving that the item related to this purchase (though did suggest they view the cctv footage). The assistant ridiculed me in front of a queue of people, said they had never sold this item! I was so embarrassed and upset. The matter was resolved by a refund from the manager and an apology.
Anyway be aware that if your receipt shows T 73 clearance or similar, then you have no way of proving when you bought the particular item, or where, which makes it difficult for customer and staff.. I have brought this receipt problem to the attention of their customer service department
In defence of M&S, the service I usually receive is fantastic.
