Thanks for all your support guys. im feeling a bit better about it now to be honest. Its actually worked out quite well as my redundancy pay should cover the wedding and can live on OHs wages while find another job.

We arent being told much at the moment, the 'anticipated' close date is the 30th sept so if I can hold on till then I will have had my 6years services so will get an extra £1,500 on my redundancy.

Its all fun but as I say it has sunk in now and Im feeling much better about it than I was yesterday, although Im still planning on having quite a drunken weekend. lol ;)

OH told me I could get a smaller job which I assumed he meant part time and I told him I would work tuesdays but he was having none of that  lol.

Sorry to hear your news. It is funny though that redundancy often ends up being a great opportunity for people. I work part time and would never consider going full time again. I think the main thing is to use the next few months to get finances as secure as possible so that money isn't too much of a pressure. My OH works as a consultant, which is lucrative, but not very secure. We work on the basis that he will certainly be out of a job someday soon, and we'll enjoy it when it happens...he might take the chance to retrain and do something he enjoys more. I think it really helps to have a second earner in the home too.

In the meantime, I would not to worry about it too much, control the wedding costs, and enjoy planning your special day! x

Ruthie is right. My sister was made redundant late last year at 5 months pregnant and got a new job three days later (visibly pregnant!).
