Planning a Wedding with No Job

Well Guys,

I am getting married 15th August 2009 and I have just been informed I am being made redundant  Not good. We would lose more money than we would save by cancelling now so its grin and bear I think. We were told at 11 today, then advised we could have until 12. Then they were even kinder and advised we could have until 2pm to absorb the news and then we are supposed to come back and business as usual.

I have to laugh or I will cry. lol

lol, we have paid deposits on everything. about anohter £7.5 k to pay off. Hopefully my redundancy pay will cover it and I can get myself another job before then. I think it is all still sinking in to be honest

I'm really sorry Val. Is there any deposit you can afford to lose that and you don't really need? I am doing my wedding as reasonably as possible (can't stand wasting money haha!) so if you need help, just let me know and I will try.

Thanks Aimee but I think we will be ok, i should get a fairly decent chunk of money which will pay for the wedding plus few months pay. If I can hold out a few months longer I get an extra years service so more money. fingers crossed.

to be honest what were paying is already really cheap and we only have the necessary things...i.e photographer, caterer etc

Val, I'm sorry that sucks . You sound very resilient tho - so I'm sure you'll pull through. Have they given any indication of when you will finish. Do you think you'll be able to string it out much longer?

Have you been 'officcially 'told about the redundancy. I was thinking if wedding insurance would cover this sort of thing perhaps. Or does your household insurance cover payment of items when made redundant? Have a good look through all the paperwork you have for everything, you never know. There could be something in there that might help.

I'm sure you'll be working again by the time you're getting married. Best of luck with everything.
