Hi there, I sorted out my mum onto a DMP a few years ago and I called this helpline first and the bloke scared me half to death. Told me it was "very serious" and that my mum could go to jail, lose house etc. Also told me that there was no magic wand and it couldn't just be fixed.

After crying for hours then talking to my friend, she told me about the CCCS. I phoned them and never looked back. They are FANTASTIC!! Only downside was the length of time to wait to get a telephone interview but they gave me all the advice I needed to deal with mums creditors in the meantime. All creditors froze the interest almost immediately and are accepting £5 a month on huge debts and have been doing for almost 4 years. My mum has never worked and has no income, there only requirement was that you must be able to pay at least £5 a month to each creditor (that may have changed now as it was 4 years ago) so the SAR had to be done joint with my Dad and the payments come out of his account.
