Forgotten Vista password, can't log on

PLEASE help!
I got given a laptop from work as part of my redundancy, so it was linked to the domain where I used to work. Clever me decides to remove it from the domain and add it to a Workgroup on the lappy and then reboots.
Now it has a user name (my name) and is asking for a password. I've tried everything and I now can't log in and use the laptop.
Any ideas how to retrieve it or reset it!!???
I'm using Vista Business.
Many thanks

That won't work for roaming profiles otherwise you could just select the name of the computer (like in xp from the drop down, not too sure about vista) and log in with the cached profile0 -

Huh?
That program will enable you to activate the loacl Administrator account that was more than likely disabled by whoever was responsible for the laptop at the company, which will then allow you to make a standard user account on the laptop to use normally.0 -
Oh yeah my bad, I though you were on about his password

If his account is linked to the domain using roaming profiles then the account won't be part of the computer will it... Any loacl Administrator account will be though.0 -
It'd probably be better if the OP could do a clean install of Vista and start from fresh with their new ownership of it, although that might not be possible if they didn't snaffle the media for it upon leaving the company.0
