Travel Ins. with higher value items covered?

I need travel insurance for going abroad withing europe, however, all the policies i'm finding only cover single personal items upto around £350-£400 per single item.

There will be several induvidual items worth in excess of that amount,how does one get these covered without paying the bloody earth?

Not only do travel insurance policies have low sing article limits they also typically have a maximum they pay in total for ALL "Valuable" items of around £400. Valuables normally includes mobile phones (If they are covered at all), jewellery, watches and cameras etc.

The easiest way is to include cover on your home insurance for personal effects away from the home. This costs circa £25 a year and would cover you for say £3000 with a single article limit of £1500. The only limit to "valuables" would be the £3000 cover you have selected. Your home insurers are more lenient on claims and would pay claims on a "New for Old" basis (Except clothing and linen). The travel insurers would ask for receipts or proof of ownership for all the items and would take into account "Wear and Tear"
