Dry cleaning issue

Does anyone know where we stand with a local dry cleaning business based on background below;
We had some silk handmade curtains dry cleaned this week and the company did not state there had been any problem in cleaning them although I suspect they send away the items for dry cleaning to a 3rd party. They did not ask me to sign for anything.
On picking up the curtains yesterday I asked if everything was ok and they said yes and as the curtains were all wrapped up I took them home.
When my wife unpacked them, she was horrified to discover that the cotton lining on both the pair of curtains was shredded. The pelmet had the same lining and this was ok.
We rang the shop up immediately although they were now closed for the day and have asked us to bring them back today for inspection.
Just wondering what I can reasonably ask for and where I stand because either we reline the curtains or live without a lining but the curtains would then fade as they are sun facing.
Any help appreciated, thanks........

You have received a service, which does not appear to have been excercised with reasonable skill or care.
The dry cleaners are, therefore, in breach of contract.
You are entitled to recover any loss arising from the breach of contract (i.e. the cost of repairing or replacing your curtains).0
