    his accomodation cost over 5,000 and he had an ensuite but not catered.....


    would he not be better private renting with friends??
    that seems loads to me!
    i stayed in halls for year one, then private rented for 250 each a month!

    Have you asked the individual universities? Sometimes they will give a small grant to students with siblings who are also studying.

    I also know a set of twins who get uneven amounts of money as the oldest get an extra £150 added onto his bursary because his mum also had to contribute to the younger sister (who was only younger by an hour lol). This was SAAS funded but LEAs in England might do something similar.
