Wireless Problem

Hi, need some advice with wireless on my laptop. I have dell inspiron 1300 and have been using it wirelessly for a number of weeks with no problems. However recently the internet connection gets lost intermittently about every 30-45 minutes which needs repairing to be able to reconnect. Any advice is much appreciated.

Oooh spooky. I've been getting the same thing although mine seems to fix itself. Which ISP are you with, what operating system are you on and what wireless router are you using?
  • Yeah the problem started last weekend for me, then fine during week and now started again - weird!. Im with NTL, running XP and a belkin router. Any ideas??

I can't exactly help, other than to say I had similar problem when running WPA, and after I downgraded to WEP my PCs never drop and network throughput is higher...

I might give that a go as I secured my wireless network to WPA only a few weeks prior to my problems, cheers!

I have been having alot of problems with WPA, I use WEP but I have MAC address fileting and IP filtering, I also set the router to permanently assign IP addresses to computers connecting to it and have only allowed enough IP addresses so that each of my computers can connect to the network.
  • To add to my earlier posts, I seem to still be experiencing problems. 3 computers in my household share the wireless network (1 desktop and 2 inspiron 1300's). However one of the 1300's still intermittently disconnects requiring repairing to reconnect about every 30 minutes whereas im experiencing no probs with other to computers. Any help is appreciated

Compare all of the wireless settings of the 1300 that works fine with the 1300 that has the problem.
