hi there if you have windows live messenger there is a new version out just go to http://ideas.live.com and click beta users sign in and then find it on the page and you can download the new one, the icons in the taskbar are back to the old ones plus many new features

Anyway as another member has already pointed out this new version has been out for quite a while now so I think those that are interested will have found it by now.
